FIFA World Cup 2022 teams: The FIFA World Cup is the biggest stage in international football, and the 2022 edition in Qatar will feature 32 of the best sides from around the globe.
As of March 2022, 28 teams have confirmed their spot in the tournament, with the remaining four to be decided via playoffs.
The 2022 FIFA World Cup will be the 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup. It is scheduled to take place in Qatar between 21 November and 18 December 2022.
This will be the first World Cup ever to be held in the Arab world and the first in a Muslim-majority country. The tournament will be the second to be held entirely in Asia after the 2002 tournament in South Korea and Japan.
For the first time since 1938, the World Cup will be held in November and December, due to the unavailability of the usual June and July dates due to Qatar’s climate.
As the host nation, Qatar automatically qualified for the tournament. The remaining 31 places will be determined through a worldwide qualification process, in which a total of 210 teams are expected to compete.
The qualification process is scheduled to begin in June 2021 and is set to conclude in November 2022. The 32 places will be allocated to:
– 13 teams from UEFA
– 5 teams from CAF
– 4 or 5 teams from CONMEBOL
– 4 or 5 teams from AFC (not including the hosts, Qatar)
– 0 or 1 team from OFC, and
– 3 or 4 teams from CONCACAF.
