World Cup 2022 tournament format
The 2022 FIFA World Cup will be the 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup. It will be held in Qatar in 2022. The tournament will be held from 21 November to 18 December 2022.
For the first time, the video assistant referee (VAR) system will be used at a World Cup in Qatar.
A total of 32 teams will compete in the tournament, including 31 sides determined through qualifying competitions and the automatically qualified host team. A total of 64 matches will be played in 8 venues.
The final will take place on 18 December at the Lusail Iconic Stadium. The tournament will be played across eight venues in seven host cities.
